Global friends:

"...I celebrated my birthday on a night train through a Siberian island with my photographer and a couple of other random guys. Life is an adventure." (understatement of the day) On the same e-mail, further down: "...I'll be in Cyprus in November and December working over there so if you feel like a weekend break or longer feel free to come and enjoy the sun..."

To which I say, although it's nice to have such citizens of the world as friends, it's much better if they're in the same city. D. , miss you too.

Casting poser

Anyone who can explain which audience the casting agent was trying to reach with this film, please do so...

Maggie Gyllenhaal - Donnie Darko, Secretary...

Julianne Moore - Magnolia, Far From Heaven...

Billy Crudup - have no idea who this is

David Duchovny - uhhh... The X Files?!...

Apparently it's a rom-com... but if you're going to have a chick flick you should choose other actors (and really no point in these actresses), if you're going to make a Woody Allen style film (this is what this movie was aiming for apparently) choose other actors. If you're going to make a film that's about relationships that's guy-friendly (well, if you were stupid enough to try) choose other actresses (but maybe leave Eva Mendes).
So who is this film for?!

I think there might be a few men out there who like intelligent actresses, and maybe a few who would go and see a film about relationships, fewer who would go when the film is advertised as a rom-com, but even I am not deluded enough to think this is enough to make an audience, even for an independent film.

Meanwhile, Woody Allen is making another film with Scarlett Johannsenn. Now there's casting for a wide audience...

If you haven't seen this yet, watch it (with sound). I think the one I saw on tv was even better

Summer here is definitely over.People are even talking about an Indian Summer (equivalent to Verao de S. Martinho), referring to the two or three days when it was above 20 degrees. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't an Indian Summer supposed to occur in Autumn? Or Winter? Anytime but in Summer? When it is actually supposed to BE summer?
