Anyone who can explain which audience the casting agent was trying to reach with this film, please do so...
Maggie Gyllenhaal - Donnie Darko, Secretary...
Julianne Moore - Magnolia, Far From Heaven...
Billy Crudup - have no idea who this is
David Duchovny - uhhh... The X Files?!...
Apparently it's a rom-com... but if you're going to have a chick flick you should choose other actors (and really no point in these actresses), if you're going to make a Woody Allen style film (this is what this movie was aiming for apparently) choose other actors. If you're going to make a film that's about relationships that's guy-friendly (well, if you were stupid enough to try) choose other actresses (but maybe leave Eva Mendes).
So who is this film for?!
I think there might be a few men out there who like intelligent actresses, and maybe a few who would go and see a film about relationships, fewer who would go when the film is advertised as a rom-com, but even I am not deluded enough to think this is enough to make an audience, even for an independent film.
Meanwhile, Woody Allen is making another film with Scarlett Johannsenn. Now there's casting for a wide audience...
